THE NEW NORMAL

WHAT IS NOW OUR NEW NORMAL. As long as the world has not found a cure  for the Chinese virus(Covid-19), we may have to adjust to the “new normal”, meaning a new way of living and going about our lives, work and interactions with other people. We all have to bear it in mind that we may have to live in the “new normal” for a very long time. Now, what do we or what can we call the New Normal? The English dictionary, defines the "new normal" as the current prevailing situation in which the economy and society at large settles, after a crisis. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the term new normal has an increasing use to refer the changes of human behavior changes during or after this pandemic. This includes limiting person-to-person contact, like handshakes and hugs. Additionally, maintaining distance from others or social distancing.  'Normal' has not worked for a majority of the world's population, so why would it start working now? However, "the new normal" m...

THE GRASS IS NOT GREENER ON THE OTHER SIDE🌿🌿

Remember when you were in secondary school and all you could think about was: ‘I will be happy when I finally graduate so I can escape this hell hole and I can finally do what I want to do with my life’. Remember?    The hallmark of the “grass is greener syndrome” is the idea that there is always something better that we are missing. So rather than experiencing stability, security, and satisfaction in the present environment, the feeling is there is more and better elsewhere, and anything less than ideal won't do.   Now let's go down memory lane remember this song by the popular musician Adekunle Gold "Ire" (Goodness) in his album ABOUT 30 the song goes like this:  [Verse 1]  The Grass Is Greener On The Other Side That’s What I Thought, Before I Took The Ride I Burned My Bridges, So I’d Never Look Back But, If I Had Known The Life I Was Searching For, Was Looking Me Right In The Eye Oh If I Had Known, The Life I Was Searching For, Was Already My Own Ire N ...

EXCUSES

Excuses are rationalizations we make to ourselves about people, events and circumstances  that happen around us. They are invented reasons we create to defend our behavior, to postpone taking  actions or simply put,  a means of neglecting responsibilities. There are many reasons why people make excuses. In fact, everyone has a variety of reasons for making them. However, we mostly make excuses for the following key reasons: Fear of Failure. Fear of Embarrassment. Fear of Success. Fear of Change. Fear of Uncertainty. Fear of Responsibilities. Fear of Making Mistakes. Excuses come in many forms, and we tend to make them in a multitude of ways. Even though excuses vary from person-to-person, there are specific excuses that we all tend to make. In this section, l'd be pointing out these excuses, however, being vigilant and aware of our excuses can provide us with critical insights into our feelings, flaws, weaknesses, and fears. This can subsequently assist us to work through...

LEFTIE (A long read)

Some people are born left-handed while others are no. There is something sleek about the left hand. This is because when a leftie uses his/her hand to write or work there is certain strangeness to the whole activity. It seems one has to turn the head this way and that trying to understand how they (the lefties) do it. The preferred use of the left hand to the right is however not an issue of choice as some children are known to either be born with that preference or grow up with the habit. The left hand is associated with disrespect and bad manners in arguably many (if not all) Nigerian culture. There's this word they call people who make the best use of their right and left hands, okay I think I got the word "Ambidextrous". I'm a typical example of an ambidextrous person. Naturally I was born a leftie but as time went by, I noticed likewise my parents even though I never knew what it meant I could use my right hand to do certain things like dishes, laundry, eating an...

( I don't know if you remember this rhyme they thought us while we were much younger) tick tick says the clock, ⏲️ what you have to do, do quick. I bet it most people don't know how to spell PROCRASTINATION (stop lying😜 you never knew there was an 'r' before the 'a') and this is going to be our topic today. For many people, procrastination is a strong and mysterious force that keeps them from...
