CODE SWITCHING

Majority  or to an extent a large percentage of people "code switch".
You might want to know what the term code switch mean.
Code switching is when a speaker alternates between two or more languages (or dialects or varieties of language) in one conversation.
Code switching occurs mostly in bilingual communities. Speakers of more than one language are known for their ability to code switch or mix their language during their communication. Some person's code switch within one language by mixing dialects or types of vernacular. For example, You can mix academic-speak with street-speak (pidgin).  Since its inception, the term "code switching" has expanded to encapsulate any situation in which speakers finds themselves switching from one accepted vocabulary or style, to another.
Take a look at this 🀷 you'd probably speak to an employer differently than you would address a close friend, so you might switch from casual language to professional-speaking  in the locality at which you find yourself.

There are a number of possible reasons for switching from one language to another but I would just go ahead and list a few:

πŸ”· To fufil a need.
πŸ”· To express solidarity.
πŸ”· To exclude others from a conversation.

Femi : My guy, how you dey?
Victor: I dey H, i wan chop. My mom prepared rice
Femi: Wetin you wan con chop. You prefer the rice?

Code-switching is becoming more  practical. While many people in the society today agree that it is a beneficial idea, some disagree. It is important to understand that people do not necessarily switch languages because they are being careless. They may have a very good reason to switch from one language to another, and this is because people respond better to what is familiar to them rather than what they would not understand at all and pretend to understand.

This is why code-switching is becoming more common throughout the world. It is important for people to feel comfortable and familiar with people around them, and code-switching is they a way to stay connected to all of these.
