Have you ever sat down to complete an important task and then suddenly remembered you wanted to check something on IG then you go from liking(❤️) one post to the other, commenting on a nice picture 😍 and those things we do on IG or when there's a trend like the #dontleavemechallenge from one tweet to another retweet from one comedy skit to the other and pheww you are having a good time and laughing your ass out, 🤣(Lmao) And you realise you have to do some laundry 👖 or dishes, 🍽️ and cleaning even though it's only 10am, My dears, time they say waits for no one. ( I don't know if you remember this rhyme they thought us while we were much younger) tick tick says the clock, ⏲️ what you have to do, do quick.
I bet it most people don't know how to spell PROCRASTINATION (stop lying😜 you never knew there was an 'r' before the 'a') and this is going to be our topic today.
For many people, procrastination is a strong and mysterious force that keeps them from completing the most urgent and important tasks in their lives with the same strength as when you try to bring like poles of a magnet together.
But the reasons people procrastinate are not understood that well. Some view procrastination largely as a failure of self-control. Others say it's not a matter of being lazy or poor time management, as many smart overachievers who procrastinate often can attest. While some say it may actually be linked to how our brain works and to deeper perceptions of time and self.
☑️Awareness – Reflect on the reasons why you procrastinate, your habits and thoughts that lead to procrastinating.
☑️Feelings - What feelings lead to procrastinating, and how does it make you feel? Are these positive, productive feelings? do you want to change them?
☑️ Goals - Focus on what you want to do, not what you want to avoid. Think about the productive reasons for doing a task by setting positive, concrete, meaningful learning and achievement goals for yourself.
☑️ Be realistic – Achieving goals and changing habits takes time and effort; don't sabotage yourself by having unrealistic expectations that you cannot meet.
I hope this four would help you to stop procrastinating or probably have a rethink on why you should stop procrastinating.
-Eminent 💛
